School of Prayer: Spiritual Authority, Pt3

Spiritual Authority is connected to:

1. What we have conquered and overcame.

2. Our obedience to what God calls us to personally consecrate so that the right type of faith is produced. We all have bechirah, free will. God does not make us or force us to consecrate. He invites us to consecrate.

3. Our giftings and callings.

4. Our biblically aligned words and actions that support what God is doing. An intercessor has a divine covenant and gifting connected to their words. It is the job and calling of the intercessor to uphold the word of God, not tear it down, sabotage it, or violate it.

5. It is founded on our spiritual identity the “who we are” and being confident in where God called us to serve and love. When you are confidently standing in your place of equipping and authority you are in your strongest spiritual place.

6. Spiritual authority comes when our consecrated self is aligned with God’s consecrated service. The temple teaches us the importance of both. God shares his person, purpose, and power with us. He places us in his will, not for the sake of accomplishments, but to use us in showing his love. Authority is that place God called us to be to love people and show them his compassion and purpose.

Where is the place and scope of your gifting? Is it in a single area of ministry or multiple? Is it local, more regional, or national? List all of the places where God has called you to love people. How is the place you work in secular life and/or the place you work in the kingdom of God correlate to your calling as an intercessor? This calling and place may change over time. It is normal for a person’s specific giftings or calling to change or sometimes in small ways and sometimes drastically. Some people’s area of ministry may also change. It may grow larger and more regional and it may not. Look at the scope of what God has called you to do. How has that changed over time and why do you think it has changed? Do you show the love of God through tasks, people, or both? Does what God called you to do fit in the church ministry completely or partially? How can you develop your gifts in and out of the church to grow? How can your giftings be watered and nurtured in prayer? Write a small paragraph describing your calling and the history of God’s confirmation of your calling. Write any confirmation and use of your gifting. Define your scope and place. What scriptures support your gifts and calling?

We covered our spiritual identity and authority. Write a few sentences entitled: 1. Who am I in God? 2. My confirmed calling is… 3. The scope of my authority and range of my gift is…
